FAQ: How do I remove a user assignment from a document?
If a user is no longer responsible for a document or was assigned in error, you can remove their assignment.
Steps:
- Locate Assignees: Find where the current assignees are displayed:
- List/Board/Table View: Look for the user avatars or names on the document card or row.
- Document Viewer: Look in the header area near the document number or status.
- (Example: Assignees displayed in header - image temporarily unavailable)
- Click Assign Icon/Avatars: Click on the area displaying the assignees or the "Assign User" icon.
- Remove User: The assignment dropdown/modal appears, showing currently assigned users. Click the 'x' next to the name of the user you want to remove.
- (Example: Clicking 'x' to remove - image temporarily unavailable)
- Confirm: Click away or click a confirmation button (if present). The user is removed from the assignee list.
Key Points:
- Permissions: You typically need
{Module}:{Submodule}#UPDATE
permission for the document to remove assignments. - Impact: Removing an assignment means the user will no longer see the document when filtering for "My Items". It might also affect their visibility if their Data Permissions rely solely on being assigned ("Own" access).
- Audit Trail: Assigning and removing users is typically logged in the document's Audit History.
