FAQ: How do I view the history of changes made to a document?

Zudello keeps a detailed log of changes made to documents, known as the Audit History. This helps you track who did what and when.

Accessing the Audit History:

  1. Open the Document: Navigate to and open the specific document you want to review.
  2. Click the History Icon: In the sidebar on the right of the document viewer, click the History icon (often looks like a clock or list).
  3. View History: The History panel will open, displaying a chronological list of events related to the document.

Understanding the History:

The Audit History typically shows:

  • Event: What action occurred (e.g., Document Created, Field Updated, Status Changed, Comment Added, User Assigned, Allocation Created/Deleted).
  • User: Which user performed the action (or "System" for automated actions).
  • Timestamp: The date and time the action occurred (usually in UTC, but may display in local time depending on settings).
  • Details: Specific information about the change (e.g., the field updated, its old value, and its new value).

Timeline vs. Detailed View:

You can often switch between:

  • Timeline View: A summarised, chronological feed of major events.
  • Detailed View: A more granular log showing individual field changes.

Approval History:

For documents that go through an approval process, there's also a dedicated Approval History section (often downloadable as a PDF via the More Actions menu) which focuses specifically on the approval milestones, steps, approvers, responses, and reasons. See Approval History and Audit Trails.

The Audit History provides a comprehensive trail for tracking changes, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring accountability.
