Troubleshooting: Required Notes/Assignees Validation Issues

Problem

You are blocked from submitting a document due to a validation error stating:

  1. "Notes are required".
  2. "Minimum X assignees required".

Cause

These errors occur because specific validation extensions are enabled on the Document Type, requiring certain actions before submission:

Troubleshooting Steps

Required Notes Error

  1. Locate Notes Field: Find the notes field, usually located in the header section of the document viewer.
  2. Enter Notes: Type relevant information, justification, or context into the notes field as required by your organisation's policy.
  3. Save: Click Save or Update.
  4. Retry Submit: Attempt to Save and Submit the document again.

Required Assignees Error

  1. Identify Requirement: The error message usually states the minimum number of assignees needed.
  2. Assign Users: Use the assign user icon (in the header or list view) to assign the required number of users to the document. See How do I assign users?.
    • Click the assign icon.
    • Search for and select the user(s).
    • Repeat until the minimum number is assigned.
  3. Retry Submit: Attempt to Save and Submit the document again.
