Troubleshooting: Document Blocked from Submission/Approval due to Validation
Problem
You are unable to click Save and Submit or Approve for a document. The button might be greyed out, or clicking it results in an error message stating that validation errors prevent the action.
Cause
This occurs when the document has one or more active validation issues flagged at the Error level. Zudello prevents documents with critical errors from proceeding through the workflow to maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with configured rules.

Identifying the Blocking Errors
- Look for Error Indicators:
- Check for a red banner at the top of the document viewer.
- Look for red icons next to specific fields.
- Check the Issues column (Table View) or Issues icon (List View) - if it shows "Error" or a red icon, there's a blocking issue.
- Review the Issues Pop-up:
- Click the "Error" label in the Issues column or the red Issues icon.
- In the pop-up window, focus on the items listed under the Error heading. These are the issues blocking your action.
Resolving Blocking Errors
- Understand the Errors: Read the descriptions provided for each Error in the Issues pop-up. Identify which fields or rules are causing the problem.
- Correct the Data: Open the document and edit the relevant fields to correct the errors (e.g., fill in missing mandatory fields, correct unbalanced totals, select required contacts/items, add notes).
- Save Changes: Click Save or Update. Zudello will re-validate the document.
- Verify Resolution: Check the Issues pop-up/icon again. Ensure there are no remaining issues listed under the Error category. Warnings or Info messages will not block submission/approval.
- Retry Action: Once all Error level validations are resolved, the Save and Submit or Approve button should become active, allowing you to proceed.
