Troubleshooting: Mobile App Setup Issues or Login Problems

Problem

You are experiencing issues using Zudello on your mobile device:

  1. Cannot add the Zudello web app to your phone's home screen.
  2. Unable to log in via the mobile browser/home screen app.
  3. Features look distorted or are difficult to use on mobile.

Understanding the "Mobile App"

Zudello uses a Progressive Web App (PWA) approach. This means you access it through your mobile device's web browser (like Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android) at app.zudello.io. You can then add a shortcut to your home screen, which behaves much like a native app. There is no separate app to download from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Common Causes

  1. Incorrect Setup Steps: Not following the correct procedure for adding the web app to the home screen for your specific device (iOS vs. Android).
  2. Browser Issues:
    • Using an unsupported or outdated mobile browser.
    • Browser cache/cookies interfering.
    • Private/Incognito mode preventing home screen add or login persistence.
    • Pop-up blockers or other browser settings interfering.
  3. Login Issues: Standard login problems (incorrect email/password, SSO issues, inactive account). See User Cannot Log In.
  4. Network Connectivity: Poor or unstable mobile data or Wi-Fi connection.
  5. Device Compatibility/OS Issues: Very old devices or operating systems might have compatibility problems with modern web apps.
  6. UI Rendering: While designed to be responsive, certain complex screens or data grids might be less optimal on very small screens.

Troubleshooting Steps

Setup Issues (Adding to Home Screen)

  1. Use Correct Browser:
    • iOS (iPhone/iPad): You must use Safari.
    • Android: Use Chrome or another modern browser that supports PWAs.
  2. Follow Correct Steps: Refer exactly to the steps outlined in Setting up the Zudello Mobile App for your specific OS (iOS Safari Share > Add to Home Screen; Android Chrome Menu > Add to Home Screen/Install App).
  3. Disable Private Browsing: Ensure you are not in an Incognito or Private Browsing session when trying to add to the home screen.
  4. Update Browser/OS: Ensure your mobile browser and device operating system are reasonably up-to-date.

Login Issues

  1. Verify Credentials/SSO: Follow the same steps as troubleshooting desktop login issues: check email, reset password if needed, verify SSO provider status and configuration. See User Cannot Log In.
  2. Check Network: Ensure you have a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
  3. Clear Browser Cache/Cookies: Clear the cache and cookies specifically for your mobile browser.
  4. Try Direct Browser Login: Try logging in directly via the mobile browser at app.zudello.io instead of using the home screen shortcut. Does that work?

Display/Usability Issues

  1. Rotate Device: Try rotating your device to landscape mode for wider screens, which can help with complex tables or forms.
  2. Zoom: Use standard pinch-to-zoom gestures if needed, although the interface should ideally adapt.
  3. Use Desktop for Complex Tasks: While mobile access is convenient for uploads, approvals, and basic viewing, complex configuration or data analysis tasks are often better suited to the desktop interface.
  4. Report Issues: If specific screens or features are consistently unusable on your mobile device, report this to Zudello support with details about your device, OS version, browser, and screenshots of the problem.
