Section 1: Understanding Dimension Sync with ERP

For most organisations using Zudello with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, dimension data is primarily managed within the ERP. Zudello automatically synchronizes this data to ensure consistency.

How it Works:

  1. ERP as Source of Truth: Your ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, MYOB Advanced, Acumatica) is considered the master source for dimension data like Chart of Accounts, Departments, Locations, Tax Rates, etc.
  2. Scheduled Sync: Zudello automatically fetches updated dimension data from your ERP on a regular schedule (typically daily, often around midnight UTC).
  3. Automatic Updates: Any changes made in the ERP (new accounts added, department names updated, locations inactivated) are reflected in Zudello after the next scheduled sync.
  4. Consistency: This process ensures that the coding options available to users in Zudello always match the current structure in your ERP, preventing coding errors and integration issues.

Best Practice:

  • Manage dimensions primarily in your ERP. Make additions, edits, and inactivations there. Let the changes flow automatically to Zudello via the scheduled sync.
  • Avoid making conflicting changes directly in Zudello if the data is managed by your ERP, as the ERP data will overwrite Zudello changes during the next sync.

What Happens Next?

Knowing that the ERP is usually the master source, let's look at how to view this synchronized data within Zudello.
