FAQ: How can I see the budget impact of a transaction I'm coding?
Zudello provides the Budget Card View for real-time visibility into how a transaction affects relevant budgets while you are coding or reviewing it.
How to Access:
- Open the Transaction: Navigate to the Invoice, PO, Requisition, or Expense you are working on.
- Code the Lines: Fill in the necessary coding dimensions (e.g., Department, GL Account, Project) on the transaction lines that correspond to dimensions used in your configured budgets.
- Click Budget Icon: Click the Budget icon (often a bar chart or piggy bank) in the action menu at the top right of the document viewer.
- (Example: Budget Icon - image temporarily unavailable)
What it Shows:
- A sidebar or modal opens displaying one or more Budget Cards.
- Each card represents a specific Budget Line that is impacted by the coding on your current transaction.
- The card shows:
- Budget Name and Line Dimensions.
- Budget Amount (calculated based on the budget's evaluation method for the relevant period).
- Allocated Amount (broken down by Actual, Committed, Pending, New Spend).
- Remaining Amount (Budget Amount - Allocated Amount).

Real-Time Updates:
- As you change coding dimensions or amounts on the transaction lines and Save, the Budget Card View will update automatically to reflect the latest impact on the corresponding budgets.
- This allows you to see immediately if your coding choices cause a budget exception (e.g., Remaining Amount becomes negative).
Using the Budget Card View proactively while coding helps prevent accidental overspending and ensures you are aware of the budget implications before submitting the transaction.
